Walking down the main street in Christchurch, a lady saw a Seed Stone on the footpath. She picked up and thought it was lovely. She was just about to slip it in her bag when she felt God say it wasn’t for her. So a little reluctantly she placed it back on the street.

A few days later she went to visit a friend who had recently become a Christian. There on this person’s coffee table was the exact stone. Her friend told her excitedly how she had found it on Colombo Street and how God had used it to let her know how much He loved her! She felt like it was a direct message from God to her.

When we first started putting stones on the streets my daughter and I went into town and placed a stone outside a shop. As we got into the car we noticed an elderly, unkempt man who was hunched over, looking at the ground as he walked along. He looked the picture of dejection. However, when he noticed the stone his hand darted down, picking it up and he quickly put it into his pocket. It was if he had found a real treasure.

I knew the stone had the words on it, “Feel like no one cares?” and on the back, “Give all your worries to Me for I care for you – Jesus” (1 Peter 5:7)

In that instant I realised I could not have gone up and said that to the man, but the stone could! That stone would be a constant reminder of the truth.

An elderly couple had been devastated by their son’s death. They had a cleaning lady who was a Christian, but each time she tried to share about God they didn’t want to know because of their pain.

Taking a walk next to the railway line one day, the husband found a stone with the words, “Is there any hope for life after death?” As he read the Seed Stone, he felt as though God was trying to speak to him. He took it home with him and when the cleaner came the next time, he got it out to show her and told her that both he and his wife believed God was trying to say something to them. They wanted the cleaner to tell them more about God.

A family of four decided to go to Bottle Lake Forest one afternoon. The two boys and their father were keen to go on a bike ride through the forest while their mother decided she’d rather go for a stroll on the beach.

The boys and their father set off on their bike ride, stopping for a short rest a short time later. As they sat in the middle of the forest, one of the boys spotted a lovely painted Seed Stone just beside the bike track. Showing his brother and Dad, the father placed the stone in his pocket and they set off on the rest of their ride.

After returning home the boys remembered about the stone they’d found. As the father began reaching into his pocket to show their mother, she interrupted them saying that while she was walking down the beach she’d also found a Seed Stone! They compared the stones and even though they had different pictures, they amazingly had the exact same verse. As they spoke about their discoveries they thought that maybe God was trying to tell them something so they decided on going to Church the next Sunday.

One man who works for a newspaper puts Seed Stones on his desk and changes them from time to time. He says most days the stones have been read as they have been turned over. Every now and then he had the opportunity to give one away.  

A lady had been really ill. She had nearly lost the will to go on living and life seemed purposeless and void of meaning. Her faith was at a very low point. She was not at all well physically and had lost a lot of weight.

One day she was walking near the hospital and out the corner of her eye spied a Seed Stone in the gutter. She picked it up and the words on it were just like God was speaking to her, “Victory is born out of a struggle…” The stone really spoke to her. Her attitude changed, her faith began to come back and bit by bit her health was restored.

Finding the stone had been a pivotal point in this lady’s life, turning her around and was a real encouragement. Today she is strong and well physically and spiritually.

Having recently started painting Seed Stones, I took the opportunity to share a “Feeling Blue?…” stone with my Grandma which I place under her pillow for her to find that night. I hoped it would encourage her as she had not been feeling well for a long time.

When she discovered the stone later that night, she said she tears came to her eyes. It was a real treasure to her and over time she asked for more stones to display on her ornament cabinet and also asked for gifts for her friends going through difficult times, as she thought they may be comforting to them also. One of her friends who was battling cancer, kept the stone on her walker until she passed away.

Having recently returned to reality after an inspiring Youth Camp, I was feeling really discouraged and low settling back into everyday life.

Three days after returning home from the camp I was at the hospital for an appointment. As I was sitting in the waiting room I looked down at the coffee table in front of me to see a bright orange Seed Stone. I picked up the stone and I was amazed as it was one I had personally painted! This stone had been on quite the journey as I given it to Wendy, who had sold it to the Christian Bookshop, the Christian Bookshop had sold it to a customer, the customer had given it to one of the physios at the hospital and here I was sitting there holding this Seed Stone again! Wow!

It was a real encouragement to me and as though God was reminding me He was still with me in everyday life!

An eight-year-old boy was struggling after his Grandmother passed away unexpectedly. During the funeral service the young boy had prayed, asking God to give him something that would be a special reminder that his Grandma was safe with God. His parents were wondering how God was going to answer that prayer!

After the funeral they decided to go for a walk on the beach. As they were walking. the boy discovered a Seed Stone and what do you know, on it was his Grandma’s favourite verse from the Bible. He was so excited by this amazing answer to prayer and a lovely reminder of his treasured grandma!
